Tsep Dad Recipes Soon

If there's one life skill I wish I learned when I was growing up, it's cooking. My Mom is a great cook and I wish I have that skill too. Unfortunately, I didn't grow-up in the kitchen. Although I know it's never too late to learn, having a lot on my plate right now, with no helper around, I  just can't seem to find time to do it.

But I praise God that He gave me a husband who loves to cook. He is our Tsep (Chef) Dad and he is the one assigned to do the cooking everyday as his share to our household loads. I usually help him slicing and preparing ingredients but he is the real Kitchen King. He likes to reinvent and he's never afraid to try new dishes. He enjoys it and we love his recipes!

I'll start sharing his food recipes here in my blog and I hope you'll find it useful. So stay tuned!

Keeping Healthy and Happy Kids

It’s every mother’s dream to see their children succeed in life. Although they’re still in an age when dolls and action figures seem exciting, all mothers really want is to keep their kids healthy and see them growing up happy and strong.

But how will they keep their children in shape to enjoy childhood to the fullest? Here are three helpful tips for mommies who want their kids to remain bright-eyed and upbeat.

Tip 1: Family Bonding is important for child development.

Children need to know that their parents will always be there for them. So, make sure they are given adequate time and attention daily. Even daily activities like eating meals together and talking over the phone may help assure a child of their presence and support.  As a result, they are more likely to grow up to be well adjusted, able-minded and upstanding individuals.

Tip 2: Teach your child the value of eating healthy

Recent studies show that childhood obesity is one of the more prominent issues facing the youth today. Hence, it is important that moms impart healthy eating habits in kids as early as possible by introducing nutritious food, particularly vegetables and fruits, into their kids’ regular diets at a young age.

Enjoying their food
This is much easier said than done however, especially with the popularity of so many sugar loaded and artificially manufactured snacks and beverages. In the long run, just remember that your constant effort to pass on good eating habits will all be worthwhile when you see your kids not easily getting sick and growing up stronger and more energetic.

Tip 3: Boost your child’s immunity with Vitamin C.

Every Mom knows that she can’t always be there to protect her children from sickness, so strengthen their immunity and resistance with FERN-C kidz Sodium Ascorbate Vitamin C supplement.
Moms may not know this, but Sodium Ascorbate is actually the better Vitamin C form as it is easier absorbed by the body, thereby allowing kids to reap the benefits of Vitamin C quicker. Moreover, FERN-C kidz does not only give your kids the benefits of Vitamin C. It also contains Zinc to further strengthen their bodies against illness. This combination is ideal for keeping your children safe and protected from infectious diseases.

FERN-C kidz was created and manufactured by the makers of FERN-C, the number one Sodium Ascorbate Vitamin C brand in the Philippines. As a product of FERN Incorporated and having the Quali-C seal, you are assured of its quality and efficacy. Plus, your children are sure to love the delicious orange flavor of FERN-C kidz.

Ensure your children are always healthy, happy and active with Fern-C kidz; because with FERN-C kidz, your children will always be “resistensaya, lusog-saya!”
FERN-C kidz is now available in leading drugstores and supermarkets nationwide at affordable prices of Php62.00 per 60 mL bottle and Php 119.00 per 120 mL bottle.

Coffee Break for Homeschool Moms Hosted by Career Academy Asia

Last June 17, 2016, Educating For Life invited all Homeschooling Moms from different places for a coffee and chat. The food and venue were sponsored by Career Academy Asia at Rockwell, Makati City.

"Career Academy Asia offers Senior High School and International Degrees, Diploma and Advanced Diploma Courses in Arts, Designs and Specialized Management". Mr. Nonie de la Fuente, Headmaster from CAA gave us a bit of information about their offerings.

After the quick talk, each mom was given a chance to introduce herself and share anything about their seasons of homeschooling. It is amazing to know the different reasons which led each of us to this journey. Nonetheless, we all want the best for our kids and we know that homeschooling is the best for them!

Meet and greet
I attended this event along with my homeschool co-op sisters to get connected with other homeschooling moms and take a breather.

With my Sisters in Christ
Jona introduced me to homeschooling
and I am happy that she is now homeschooling her daughter

I was inspired by families who homechooled their kids from preschool to highschool and Lord willing, I would want to homeschool my kids as well until highschool. I don't want to let them go early and I want to keep them as much as possible. When I told my son that when he reach college, he needs to go to a big school or a University, he protested saying he wants homeschooling. But I have to explain that college is not something Mom can teach.

After the meet and greet, we had our free coffee and snacks prepared by the Throwing-A-Party. Then on to our endless sharings and chikas. There's so much learning and encouragement from Moms who are very passionate with homeschooling.

It was very encouraging and comforting to know that we share most of the sentiments and burden as homeschoolers, that we are not alone in this road. As more families are becoming open and embraces this idea of home education, parents are becoming more intentional to their kids and becoming their primary influencers.

This was the first ever Moms' Coffee Break and i'm looking forward for the next. Many thanks to Educating for Life and Career Academy Asia for this fruitful event!

NAMCYA stages #galingNAMCYA

Accomplished musicians who have proven their brilliance nationally and internationally are set to perform in a concert on July 16, 2016, to showcase works by Filipino and foreign composers and raise funds for the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA).

To be held at the Little Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the concert, titled #galingNAMCYA, features past winners of NAMCYA, the country’s most prestigious music competition for the youth for more than 40 years.

The performers include Carlo Antonio Juan (Guitar), Sara Maria Gonzales (Violin),  Christian Tan (Violin), Kim Carl Mirandilla Ng (Viola), Arnold Josue  (Cello), Gabriel Allan Paguirigan (Piano), Luci Magalit (Piano), Myramae Tapia Meneses (Soprano), Antonio Maigue (Flute), Gabriel Allan Paguirigan (Piano), Reynato Resurreccion, Jr., (Oboe), Ariel Sta. Ana (Clarinet), Frenvee Andra (Bassoon), Naomi Sison (Piano), and Jay-ar Mesa (French Horn, guest horn player).

We are very excited to have these NAMCYA winners perform and show that many of our world-class musicians were shaped by their experiences in NAMCYA,” said Renato Lucas, Secretary-General of NAMCYA, and who is also a past winner of the competition.

We titled the concert #galingNAMCYA because we want people to know that these performers came from NAMCYA and that they represent the wealth of talent that NAMCYA attracts every year,” added Lucas.

Before all these talent contests that we see today on TV, there was NAMCYA. It was where excellent musicians were discovered and nurtured to become world-class performers. NAMCYA continues to do that, and we want everyone to know that NAMCYA’s advocacy is to help our youth develop musical excellence and promote Philippine music.”

#galingNAMCYA aims to raise funds to help NAMCYA in its advocacy. Activities include the competitions and special performances in November, as well as outreach performances, workshops on Philippine music, and commissioning of new Filipino works.

#galingNAMCYA’s virtuosi will perform masterpieces of Filipino composers such as Nicanor Abelardo, Bayani M. De Leon, Manuel Velez, and Felipe P. De Leon, Sr., as well as works of foreign composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Paul Dukas, and Francis Poulenc.

Gabi's Mini Stories

As much as possible, we do not allow our kids to play too much online/offline games. We put too much restrictions on it especially on weekdays. I personally don't have games on my own cellphone because we don't want to lure our kids into it. So whenever my eldest will borrow my cellphone, it's either to use the calculator, the voice and video recording or the memo pad.

My eldest son, Gabi
